As industry spokesperson, primary role is advocacy with all levels of government. Other priorities include liaising with media as well as the environmental and health professional communities. Directly responsible for a staff of eight, and numerous professional consulting firms on retainer.
Canadian Society of Association Executives (nee Institute of Association Executives) - www.csae.ca 1983 - 1986 President Chief staff officer of a 1850 member professional society. Responsible for a seven-person staff and coordinating twelve standing committees. Primary activities included developing and producing professional development opportunities for Canadian association executives and their suppliers in the form of a 600-person national conference and exhibit, educational seminars and a professional certification program.
Society of the Plastics Industry of Canada (SPI) - www.cpia.ca 1981 - 1983 Division Manager Responsible for the management of sectoral associations within SPI. Primary responsibility included developing and executing promotional materials, managing sector conferences and liaising with regulatory bodies in the construction field. Also managed special projects such as the promotion of the industry's plastics trade show.
Canadian Frozen Food Association (now Canadian Food Institute) 1976 - 1981 Executive Director Chief staff officer of a national trade association whose primary role was the development of the frozen food category. Primary function was media spokesperson and management of consumer-directed print promotional campaigns, as well as organizing a 400-person national conference and serving as editor of the national newsletter.
